Sales Pressure

Posted by christiancarguy on July 12, 2008

Let’s hear from the struggling Christian Car Sales People.

I know the car business, especially the domestics has really been hurt by the current state of things. Car sales are way down. In fact June caped the worst first half year sales since 1993.
Inventories are climbing, especially the low mpg vehicles. Dealers are paying big interest on everything but their most efficient 4cyl engines. Consumer demand for 4 bangers hasn’t been this high since the early 80’s. All this means the pressure is on and it’s on big time, as far to many dealers are facing losing their business if they don’t cut way back.

One of their biggest expenses is people Sales managers are feeling the heat, sell and sell at a high profit or lose your Job and worse lose your Job in a horrible Job market. Salesman knowing they are facing a similar demise and fewer sales are also pressured to sell each prospect and sell at a higher profit if the volume won’t be there.
If you have a prospect on a V8 sitting out there the dealer and sales manger are on your back 24/7.

I can hear the manager now, “What happened to your Guy on the Crown Vic? let’s get him on the phone. Take it over to his house if you have to.”
Problem is you’ve been hearing that every hour from the manager or the dealer since the guy left two weeks ago and on the tenth phone call he hung up on you and hasn’t taken your call since.

When the going gets this tough in the car market I can assure you the impatient Dealers and Sales managers resort to some pretty Questionable sales tactics.
I know you Christian sales people out there are being asked to do things, you know are wrong and put in that vise between losing your Job and compromising your integrity.
I was around in the 70’s when this happened and the 80’s as both a salesman and a sales manager.
So I feel your pain.

What are your pressures…tell us your story…
