Happy New Year

Posted by christiancarguy on October 4, 2008

Happy 5769…. Yes happy new year.

What’s cool in the 5769 Models

What are the Big Three Thinking,  (more SUV’s?????  or crossovers??)

Happy 5769…. yes happy new year.

In the car business we like the Jews celebrate our New Years in late September.

Rosh Ha-Shanah or as the Bible refers to it as the Feast of Trumpets, was Tuesday and perhaps Wednesday this last week.

And this is cool, Jewish Tradition is that, The Rosh Ha-Shana holiday commemorates the completion of the 6th day of creation. So their calendars have this as the year 5769

So instead of getting excited about the 2009 models, I’m thinking we might actually be more accurate in saying the 5769 models…

So happy new year everyone and “Leshanah tovah tikatevu,” which means, “May you be

inscribed (written down in the huge book) for a good year. “Hebrew Legends tell that a huge book containing every person’s name is opened in heaven during the New Year holidays. Their past deeds are judged and their fate for the next year is decided and written down in the book. That’s why, when the Jews send greeting cards to each other before Rosh Ha-Shanah, the card often says, “Leshanah tovah tikatevu,” which means, “May you be inscribed (written down in the huge book) for a good year.

Why Can’t Ford, GM or Chrysler get in the game on this gas mileage race? They just keep thinking a new crossover or a New SUV. Why in the world would Ford come out with the Ford FLEX when neither Toyota nor Honda can even sell any volume in that segment? I understand that there is more money to be made on higher priced stuff, but when will the big three get it.

They have always believed in halo cars for performance, can’t they see the need for a halo gas mileage vehicles!!!!!

It’s working for Honda and Toyota!!!

Great Point!!! It appears greed is still driving them, I guess they don’t want to give up the old way of making big money on big vehicles. Or maybe they are just too far behind, but I thought they could bring a new vehicle to market in 18 months and you sure would have thought they could see this coming 18 months ago… Thanks Robby

The feds will not let Detroit build cars that get good or better gas mileage. The reason for this is the feds stand to lose millions of $ in the federal highway fund, which is already broke. This fund is made up of money collected from road tax on every gallon of gas or diesel.
Modern EFI is actually designed to sabotage better fuel economy; when the O2 sensor detects a more efficient combustion due to a fuel-saving device, the computer is actually programmed to feed more gas into the engine, causing premature engine wear and worse gas mileage.
This ought to be criminal. Everybody is screaming about high gas prices and for us to conserve, but detroit is guilty for giving us these cars that are actually programmed NOT to perform…

No to be argumentitve, but with the Fed rasing or attempting to raise the corporate average fuel economy rating, arent they doing the opposit of what your saying by trying to force Detroit to move in the right direction. The big threes lobbies and Dealer groups have fought them at every step of the way.

It would appear to me that Detroit has been bent on selling high profit cars, not samll ones… The government wants higher corporate fuel economy.

What are you talking about? An O2 sesnsor just reads oxegen levels, the PCM determins the air fuel ratio based on that information along with a Mass air flow sensor?

How would the car know that you have a gas saving device. ie. a more efficient air filter???? If it did know that and cause the car to run too rich a host of other problems would present themselves, fowled plugs, clogged converters etc….
