I found this on the web just a few minutes after the show today:
“Back in Roman times, salt was something very special. Even today we express someone’s solid worth by saying, “People like that are the salt of the earth.” The Romans used to say, “There is nothing more useful than sun and salt.” To Romans, salt was connected with purity. To them it was the purest of all things because it came from the purest of all things: the sun and the sea. So then, if the Christian is to be what Christ also called “the salt of the earth,” he or she must be an example of purity. A Christian upholds absolute purity in speech, in conduct, in thought. He is honest, diligent law-abiding.”

I don’t know of a better testimony of someone being a Christian than this example of salt being a measure of purity, and thought it worth mentioning on the blog…
